2010: Day 61 and 62

2010

It’s not that I’m too lazy to write every single day, on the contrary, nothing would make me happier than have the ability to write everyday.  So often, after I have finished work, all I want to do is go home and feel the softness of my bed, drink an ice cold beer, and fall asleep.  Hopefully I’ll get myself back into the swing of things and have an entry each day.  Within the next day or so I’m hoping that the keyboard comes in for my computer so I can turn it in to be fixed and not have to use this god forsaken wireless keyboard anymore.

Day 62:  Not being entirely prepared.  A Tuesday, like any other, starts off slow, but as the day progresses, it becomes busier and busier.  Now I’m not complaining about people coming in to eat and keeping my job available to me.  It’s always tough when you are not properly staffed.  Two things happen during this time, 1) frustration builds and 2) morale begins to break down.  The frustration is that there isn’t enough hands to complete all the tasks at hand.  At first, that is the reality, but as we continue into the busier periods we find that it becomes a lot easier and we have gotten ourselves into a rhythm. The other part of frustration begins to build from everyone dwelling on all of the tasks that haven’t been completed.  Whether it be from the shift before or the tasks assigned on that shift.  As frustration builds we find that morale tends to break down more and more.  No one is excited to be doing what they are doing and it becomes much harder to motivate to accomplish more.  All managers are charged with this duties, no matter what the profession.

Day 63: Wind in your hair, smile on your face, feeling old. Sometimes we run into the most unlikely of people.  Just when we thought we have been forgotten or have forgotten ourselves someone life has a way correcting itself.  This day took me to back home where I went snowboarding with T.  It was great to get out onto the mountain and cruise through the cool winter air on my snowboard.  We met someone and for the first time in my life, EVER, I felt old.  I have not yet reached the age of 25 and already I feel old.  I saw the sister of one of my good friends from high school.  I haven’t seen either in years, but she immediately recognized me and said hello.  This was a girl that I would see when I would visit her sister every now and again.  But she was young, like intermediate school young.  Life goes on, whether you want it to or not.  She was a little woman now and for the rest of the day I have been reflecting on the past few years wondering all the time had gone.  Realizing that the people we were is not the people we become.  Even though that sounds so obvious, we often make the mistake of believing that we can just pick up the pieces of a life we lived 4 or 5 years ago. We must understand that the people we fell in love with back then have been someone completely different.  It’s not fair to put all the change on someone else either because we have all changed.  Major transformations have taken place, college graduation, drop out, drug abuse, deaths, accidents, etc.

I forgot about something that has been pissing me off as of late.  Kesha.  She spells her name with a fucking $ sign.  Who does that anymore.  Kids did that in like 7th grade when they realized that they could pretend to be rappers and sub the “S” for the “$”  Not only did you manage to come slam of the most typical overused bullshit into one song and call it your own, but you also spelled your name like suburban white kid pretending to be Ma$e.

Am I boring you yet?  I’m done.

Tonight, is a very special night for I have rented Where the Wild Thing Are and plan on curling up with a beer and my blanket and enjoying a good movie.  Phone is on vibrate to ensure maximum viewing pleasure with minimal distraction.  Good day friends.  For a good laugh, head over to buzzfeed.com and check out The 10 Worst Moose Knuckles At The Olympics.

side note:  i wish to remain anonymous the remainder of our sessions.
