2010: Day 48
Wow. All I have to say is Wow. The first two days of the work week and man were they a doozy for me. Life boggles my mind sometimes, especially when it comes to work. I was guilty of this at one point in my life, but honestly I don’t understand when people complain about not being about to pay bills and then turn down work. The sad truth is, is that life just isn’t all fun and games. We would all love to go out every weekend, but being the nubile young minds of tomorrow we need to tow the line hard now and celebrate later in life. Unless for some reason you have been blessed with a fortune, which, sorry to say, isn’t the average person. You either work you ass off and it pays off 20 years down the road and you fight your way through the corporate food chain or you go to school for 4-6 years and drown yourself in student-loan debt with a decent mid-level position. Either way, you should be happy in what you do. I’m not saying either path is less or more prestigious. The point is, which ever path you choose, work your hardest and more often than not you will have to give up the things you love for the moment for the things you’ll love later. The people that you help in that moment will remember it later and reward you for all your hard work. Though, I know how are it is to work weeks on end, for what seems to be, unreasonable compensation. I found that when I was at my wits end and thought there was no end in sight that the rewards came and I was able to renew all my faith in my work, peers and superiors.
side note: believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see…
